The Kuala Lumpur Area offers a rich variety of activities for the congress delegate and his or her family. It is a wonderful setting for bringing together hundreds of presenters from scores of countries to share and learn about both familiar and new problems and ways of dealing with them. Besides the professional opportunities, the Kuala Lumpur area and some of the neighboring islands offer many opportunities for site seeing and activities for the whole family.

Tour A - Kuala Lumpur Highlights Discovery Pick up time: 0900hrs (approximately 4.5hrs) Did you know that tin mining built KL? Get the inside story on how Chinese miners of the 1850s made waves with the meeting point of two rivers that contributed to the KL we see today. This half day tour takes you on a journey back in time to KL's roots at the Royal Selangor Pewter Visitor's Centre that pays homage to tin as the main component in making pewter. Other attractions include the River Confluence (birth place of KL), The Independence Square, The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, The King's Palace, Batu Caves. Tour includes: English speaking driver/guide & mineral water.

Tour B - Kuala Lumpur City Discovery Pick up time: 0900hrs / 1400hrs (approximately 3.5hrs) See the influential structures of KL city in one quick trip as each monument has its story to share. Admire the architectural brilliance and landscapes. Hop on this tour that will take you to the National Monument, King's Palace, National Museum, Independence Square, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and choose to have a snapshot at the Petronas Twin Towers or National Mosque. Tour includes: English speaking driver/guide, mineral water & NationalMuseum entrance fees.

Tour C - Kuala Lumpur Countryside Discovery Pick up time: 0930hrs / 1400hrs (approximately 3.5hrs) Time to make friends with folks out of the city at the Batik Factory and understand the intricacy of producing this Malaysian traditional cloth. Be enthralled with the works of nature at the Batu Caves, lime stone temple and the animals that inhabit it. The tour also includes a drive pass to Ambassadors Row and The Royal Selangor Pewter Factory & Visitors Centre. Tour includes: English speaking driver/guide & mineral water.

Tour D – Discover the School of Hard Knocks Pick up time: 0930hrs (approximately 3.5hrs) Relax, this school doesn't hurt like it sounds. The School of Hard Knocks offers you a speed lesson on pewter smith skill (if visiting the Royal Selangor Visitors Centre got you curious). Armed with a hammer, mallet, wooden mould and scraper, you'll be forming, scraping, polishing and packing your own piece of pewter, engraved with your initials or a personal message. An "apprentice pewter smith" apron and a personalized certificate puts a stamp on your newfound skills. Tour includes: English speaking driver/guide, School of Hard Knocks workshop fees and mineral water.

Tour E – Discovery Putrajaya Pick up time: 0900hrs / 1400hrs / 1900hrs (approximately 3.5hrs) Beyond KL City lies Putrajaya, the nation's administrative capital. Dubbed the "Garden City, Intelligent City", Putrajaya is a self-sufficient township with much thought put into each building, resulting in contrasting architectural creations. A trip to Putrajaya takes you on a drive through the nature enriched boulevards, the Prime Minister's Office and Official Residence. Plus, the cannot-be-missed majestic Putra Mosque and Putra Bridge, a popular backdrop for photography. Tour includes: English speaking driver/guide & mineral water.

Tour F - Dinner Date in the Sky (approximately 4hrs) Fancy a fine meal 282 meters above ground level in a posh revolving restaurant? As you wine and dine, set your sights on a panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur. Not only dinner, but this tour brings you to the Open Air Bazaar of Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur Tower, drive pass The Independence Square, The Sultan Abdul Samad Building and The Petronas Twin Towers before dinner. Tour G - Dinner Date with Culture (approximately 4hrs) Malaysia is truly an exploration and what better way to sample the various cultures alongside famous culinary delights? This evening tour introduces you to the way of life of various ethnic groups with visits to the Sri Maha mariamman Temple, Open Air Bazaar of Chinatown before finishing with a Buffet Dinner accompanied by a Cultural Show. Tour H - Journey to Discovery - Malacca (approximately 9hrs) People constantly flock to the birthplace of Malaysia. Its strategic location led to an economic boom, greatenough to cause nations to fight for ruling rights. It is through 600 years of various European influences that gave birth to a unique heritage, customs and lifestyle of the local folks, landing it the UNESCO Heritage site recognition. Malacca was also the state where Malaysia's declaration of Independence was held. The tour highlights St Peter's Church, Porta De Santiago and the ruins of St Paul's Church, Dutch Administration office, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple & Jonker Street. PRE / POST TOUR • Langkawi - The Mystical Island (3 day tour) Langkawi is a fascinating island made even more intriguing by its myths and legends. Its breathtaking scenery, rustic ambience enchanted by its marine life and spectacular limestone formation make this island an idyllic retreat. What's more, certain items on the island are duty-free! Langkawi is also listed in the UNESCO on the world in the UNESCO on the world list of Geoparks for the oldest rock formation in the country and its rich biodiversity
