The International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) was founded in 1987 at the end of the East-West Family Therapy Bridging Conference in Prague. Therapists at the Conference were so exciting about the magnificent opportunities for face-to-face sharing of ideas, accelerated learning, and networking with colleagues and leaders in the field of family therapy from various parts of the globe, they spontaneously agreed to hold another congress the next year. So began the World Family Therapy Congresses and the birth of IFTA.
The 2011 World Family Therapy Congress is the 19th in the series. You may see pictures of past family therapy congresses in Buenos Aires (2010), Slovenia (2009), Porto, Portugal (2008) and others here.
Over 300 presentation proposals were submitted. A tentative schedule is posted here. Watch this site in late December for the final schedule of presentations.
We look forward to seeing you in the Netherlands next March!
